Security and GDPR, explained
Where is event data hosted?
In Europe. That is a decisive criterion for many legal and procurement teams, particularly in banking, healthcare and the public sector. The hosts and processors involved are listed in our privacy policy, processor by processor.
Is the application GDPR-compliant?
It is built to be: defined purposes, bounded retention periods, and attendee rights that can actually be exercised. The organiser remains the data controller for their event, and WeChain acts as a processor, under an agreement compliant with article 28 of the GDPR.
Who can see what is published during the event?
Only invited attendees. A WeChain event is not a public social network: photographs, messages and answers stay within the event. The organiser also has moderation tools over what reaches the screen.
What happens to the data after the event?
It stays available for as long as the event is open, then is deleted according to the period agreed in the contract. The organiser remains the data controller and sets that deadline; WeChain acts as a processor. The detail is set out in our privacy policy.
Can access to certain content be restricted?
Yes. Rights are set per user category — attendees, speakers, exhibitors, organising team — and each module is switched on independently. A session reserved for an executive committee does not appear in the other attendees' programme.
Do attendees have to create an account?
No. Access is through a link or QR code, with an event password where needed. Less data collected, less friction at the door, and nothing to delete afterwards: it is the easiest choice to defend to a legal team.
