Event messaging, explained
What is a built-in messaging feature for?
It gives the event its own discussion thread, separate from attendees' personal messaging. WeChain combines a global feed, where the whole room reacts, with one-to-one conversations for continuing a conversation. Everything stays inside the event, with no WhatsApp group nobody will ever leave.
How do you moderate a discussion during an event?
The organiser has a dashboard where any message can be approved or removed. At an internal event self-regulation is usually enough; with a wider audience, giving moderation to someone on the team keeps the exchanges flowing with no risk of things getting out of hand.
Does the chat stay available after the event?
Yes, for as long as you leave the event open. Attendees keep commenting, finding a contact or sharing a write-up. That is often where the relationships formed during the day continue.
Does the chat replace a WhatsApp group?
It meets the same need without the drawbacks. The thread lives inside the event and closes with it, so nobody ends up in a group they will not dare leave six months later. The organiser also keeps control over what is published there.
Can speakers answer questions in the feed?
Yes. Rights are set per user category: a speaker can publicly answer a question that concerns them, during their session or afterwards. That is often where the exchanges a plenary had no time for actually happen.
Can the chat be closed during a session?
Yes. The module switches on and off from the dashboard at any moment. That is useful during a talk where attention should stay on the stage — and when it reopens the reactions arrive all at once, often the best part of the thread.
